There and back again.Honda Civic
I began this piece with the intention of pushing my boundaries on color and texture but in the end favored a cleaner, sharper look. Accuracy was important to me so I studied the car closely, both in reference and in pictures of my own old Honda. This is a car I once owned and loved. It was my first ‘new’ car and became my closest pal. I roamed the coast of Georgia in it. I delivered pizza in it. We journeyed across country together four times through the miles and miles of miles and miles in Kansas and Nebraska as well as south through Louisiana and Texas. I name my cars. Her name was Sequoyah. I love Honda's brand identity from that period. They manufactured low cost, entry level cars that were both safe and fun to drive and advertised them with simplicity and whimsical copy. It has been a welcome influence. This piece was lovingly crafted in Adobe Illustrator and driven wildly in my dreams. |
