The Eagle has landed.
Dia del Amigo
I created this piece to celebrate Dia del Amigo, an Argentine holiday inspired by mankind landing on the moon on July 20, 1969. Conceived by Argentine dentist Ernesto Enrique Febbraro as a way to foster international good will, it is a very popular celebration to this day.
I wanted to include elements from the flags of both nations, both color and emblems, but without including the flags themselves. It leans American/Argentine but red, white, blue and stars are elements included in the flags of many nations. Another nod to the American and Argentine connection comes from placing the ‘American’ elements on the top half of the badge and Argentine elements on the bottom half since America is in the northern hemisphere and Argentina is in the southern hemisphere. Also important to me was to feature the Lunar Lander itself in a simplified but recognizable form. Finally I brought the whole thing together with a slightly desaturated color palette.
Happy Friendship Day. Don’t forget to keep in touch with the people most important to you.
