A titan against a titan!Medusa Copters
This logo badge/shield was created for a build-to-order quad-copter company start-up. The brief was for a simple design that would lend itself to ‘readability’ at multiple sizes without a word mark for the quadcopter as there would not be much room for anything bigger than half inch or so. Early on it was decided that the mythical creature Medusa, the Gorgon, would be used. I wanted to create a different version from the usual concept such as not visualizing scales on the coils of the snake or prominent fangs. The grimace I based on a character from “The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert.” Good movie, too. Go watch it. Through several iterations I opted for less detail believing it would be difficult to discern at small sizes but together we settled on more detail on the outer quarter of the badge and left the medusa head on the center surrounded by a ‘sterile’ field. While some detail is lost at small sizes it still lends itself well to potential other uses, such as vinyl stickers or other swag. Created in Adobe Illustrator and pursued relentlessly by a guy trying to save his girlfriend from a monster. |
